Commissioning a portrait
Thankyou for your interest in a pet portrait. If you would like to commission a portrait please contact me either by email, phone or via my Facebook page.
The portrait will only be as good as the photo you supply.
Please ensure that it is of a good quality and is high resolution so that all features and detail can be seen.
The best photos to work from are large high resolution Digital Images and should ideally be uncompressed. Make sure the photos are clear, taken in natural lighting and with as much detail as possible. Try not to use photos that have parts of the animal cut off or are blurred or too dark
and try to choose a photograph that captures your pet’s personality and character well. The pose in the photo will be the pose in the final pet portrait. I can also take pets from individual photos and combine them to create a group composition if the photographs are suitable.
IMPORTANT - Please ensure that you have permission to use the photo if it is not your own.
Pencil portraits usually take about 14 days to finish depending on the complexity. If there is more than one pet it may take a little longer, but they can be posted straight away after finishing. This will also depend on the amount of work already commissioned so it may take longer to complete the portrait but I will be able to confirm this during the ordering process. If you do have a specific deadline for your commission I will try to accommodate this.
When your portrait is completed I will e-mail a scan for you to approve. I want you to be happy with the portrait so at this stage I can make some minor changes until you are entirely satisfied with it. Once you are happy I will then request the final payment.
Once the portrait is approved I will email an invoice for the balance of payment. Payment is required within 10 days of invoice. Once this has been cleared the portrait will be dispatched and delivered by the service specified at the initial payment stage. The easiest way to pay is by BACS
Please contact me if you cannot pay by this method. Once the payment is cleared I will then ship the portrait.
Your finished portrait will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm®. For delivery outside of UK please contact for prices.
If you cancel a portrait after I have emailed confirmation of the commission start date I will charge the 25% deposit amount and this will not be refunded. If due to unforseen circumstances I have to cancel the portrait the deposit will be refunded in full.
IMPORTANT - Copyright is retained by myself, I also reserve the right to scan or reproduce the finished artwork for use on social media or advertising. I also retain the right to use the image on other printed products where permission has been granted from you.

Due to the customised nature of the work once the portrait has been approved, paid for and delivered, returns cannot be accepted.
